Twins starter Kevin Correia had a strong outing as Minnesota defeated the Colorado Rockies 9-3 Saturday afternoon at Coors Field in Denver, the Associated Press reports.
Correia (5-11) gave up just one run as he scattered seven hits over six innings, snapping a three-game losing streak.
The Rockies stranded 10 base runners in the game and did not get a home run, after hitting eight in their previous two games, according to the AP.
Correia helped his cause with a run-scoring double in the fourth inning that brought home the Twins’ fourth run of the game.
Rockies’ starter Tyler Matzek (1-4) allowed four runs and seven hits in six innings.

The Twins scored first with two runs in the first inning, then added one in both the third and fourth innings, according to MLB.com. Eduardo Escobar led off the Twins’ third with his third home run of the year.
They broke the game wide open with three more runs in the eighth when pinch-hitter Chris Parmelee hit a two-run single off reliever Chad Bettis, who had loaded the bases on a single and two walks. The third run scored on a sacrifice fly by Brian Dozier.
The Twins and Rockies each scored two in the ninth inning.
Rockies first baseman Justin Morneau went 1 for 5 with an infield single in the third; that’s the only hit he’s gotten in nine at-bats in the series, his first against his former team.
The Twins (43-50) have assured themselves of a winning road trip at 4-2 entering Sunday’s game, their last before the All-Star break, the St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
