The Minnesota Twins announced Tuesday that the team tendered contracts to six arbitration-eligible players before Tuesday’s 10:59 p.m. deadline.
Third baseman Trevor Plouffe, infielder Eduardo Nunez, outfielder Jordan Schafer, starting pitcher Tommy Milone and relief pitchers Brian Duensing and Casey Fien were tendered contracts, thus avoiding arbitration hearings. It’s the second year of arbitration for Plouffe, Duensing and Schafer and the first for Milone, Nunez and Fien.
Plouffe, who broke his forearm in late September, was cleared Tuesday to resume baseball activities. He was one of the Twins’ leading offensive players in 2014, finishing with a .258 batting average while slugging 14 home runs, 40 doubles and driving in a team high 80 RBIs.

Milone, who was acquired in a trade with Oakland, battled inflammation in his neck and posted a 7.21 ERA in 21 2/3 innings with the Twins. Duensing posted a 3.31 ERA with 33 strikeouts in 54 1/3 innings. Schafter hit .285 with 15 stolen bases in 41 games. Nunez hit .250 with four home runs and 24 RBIs in 72 games. Fien finished with a 3.98 ERA as Minnesota’s top right-handed setup man for closer Glen Perkins.
