With Spring Training only about one month away, the Minnesota Twins are doing some housekeeping with the roster before the team arrives in Florida.
On Friday, the Twins avoided arbitration with four players:
- Trevor Plouffe, 3B
- Eduardo Nunez, SS
- Tommy Milone, LHP
- Casey Fien, RHP
Mike Berardino of the Pioneer Press reports that Plouffe’s one-year contract is worth $4.8 million. The third baseman hit .258 with 14 home runs and a team best 80 RBIs last season.

Berardino adds that Plouffe’s deal will make him the highest paid third basemen in Twins history, surpassing the $4.5 million Corey Koskie made in 2004.
Puckett’s Pond called the deal with Plouffe the most noteworthy among the the group. Plouffe has been rehabbing the broken left arm that he suffered late last season. Earlier this month he posted a video to Instagram of himself doing a soft hands drill. He told Berardino in a text message that he’s “stronger than I’ve ever been.”

Milone, who is expected to compete for a spot in the starting rotation, will make $2.77 million, according to baseball reporter John Heyman.

Left-handed reliever Brian Duensing and outfielder Jordan Schafer are the only Twins who filed for arbitration that remain unsigned.
