After getting waxed for 32 runs over the weekend, the Twins dealt Danny Santana to the Atlanta Braves and acquired left-handed pitcher Kevin Chapman on Monday.
The southpaw has spent this season with the Braves’ Triple-A team. Chapman also spent fours seasons with the Houston Astros, compiling an ERA of 4.09 in 58 big league games. He’s averaged just under eight strikeouts per nine innings in his major league career.
Santana was designated for assignment on May 5 after struggling along over the last three seasons.
Chapman will report to Triple-A Rochester, since Minnesota’s roster is already at 25. The Twins would have to make a corresponding roster move to call up Chapman.
