The Twin Cities, specifically St. Paul, will be the center of the college hockey universe once again in 2018.
The Xcel Energy Center was awarded the 2018 Frozen Four by the NCAA on Wednesday, according to the Star Tribune.
“We are extremely excited to be selected to host the 2018 NCAA Frozen Four,” Gophers head coach Don Lucia said in a statement. “The Xcel Energy Center, the city of St. Paul and the University of Minnesota have a great history of hosting first-class events and we look forward to continuing that tradition over the next few years.”
The Xcel Energy Center previously hosted the Frozen Four in 2002 and 2011.
The Gophers won the 2002 NCAA championship in front of a record 19,327 fans at the “X,” according to the Pioneer Press.
