The morning after a frustrating loss to unranked Northwestern, Gophers basketball coach Tubby Smith says “it doesn’t get any easier” when Minnesota travels to Wisconsin Saturday.
Smith told WCCO-AM Thursday his team “didn’t play very smart” against the Wildcats, losing 55-48, adding that “our shooting has been very suspect.”
You can hear Smith’s comments in their entirety, via WCCO.com, right here.
Star Tribune reporter Amelia Rayno posted Smith’s postgame comments immediately after the loss.
A prime takeaway from that post is Smith’s reaction to Northwestern stifling the Gophers with its 1-3-1 defense, which really threw Minnesota in the second half. Smith: “We obviously did a poor job of practicing and preparing for it.”
