Two big steps forward, one huge step back.
That’s the fallout from the Gophers’ 53-51 loss to Nebraska Wednesday night, a showing which once again has some Minnesota fans calling for Tubby Smith’s removal.
Minnesota, coming off wins against Indiana and Penn State, dropped to 1-7 on the road in the Big 10 this year.
The stats from last night are eye-opening. Among the best being shared Twitterverse:
#Gophers Rodney Williams, Austin Hollins, and Joe Coleman played a combined 63 minutes and produced 0 pts.

Loss means #Gophers won't have an above .500 B1G record in any of Tubby's 6 yrs. Monson twice finished above .500 on B1G.

Dating back to 1905, Tubby Smith is the first #Gophers HC to be here at least 6 seasons and not record a better than .500 BT record in a yr

If #Gophers fall at Purdue on Saturday, they would have lost eight straight #B1G road games. Last time that happened for MN was '99-00.

Smith, meanwhile, was asked if Nebraska celebrating Senior Night rattled his team. The coach didn’t dodge the question, telling Omaha.com: “It must have. We were horrible.”
The bright side? Nebraska fans stormed the court like they had just defeated the best team on the planet.
