Welcome back to the Rickeybazz Burkiohammad weekly update, we have missed you since last Friday when Muhammad was sent down to the D-league and Trey caught the eye of Clippers head coach Doc Rivers.
Today in the most recent 2013 Wolves draft decision update, Burke catches the eye of the Detroit Free Press, while Muhammad is busy tearing up the developmental league.
TREY BURKE: Burke continues to impress since returning from injury, catching the eye of Detroit Free Press columnist Doug Robinson this week.
Said Robinson of Burke and his impressive rookie campaign: “One of those was Trey Burke, picked ninth by Minnesota, which of course means eight teams passed on him. The Jazz traded their two first-round picks to Minnesota to obtain Burke — Shabazz Muhammad and Gorgui Dieng (the 14th and 21st picks of the draft, respectively). It turned out to be one of the most astute moves of the draft…Burke might well be the Rookie of the Year despite missing the first 12 games of the season with a broken finger. He is averaging 13.3 points, 3.3 rebounds and 5.2 assists a game, and he’s made a difference in the performance of his team. The Jazz started the season 1-15, with Burke missing 12 of those games. Since then they are 10-10…He is definitely the exception in a meager draft crop.”

SHABAZZ MUHAMMAD: Two games into his assignment to the D-league, Shabazz is turning heads.

Those were two of the highlights turned in by Shabazz at the D-league showcase Tuesday, a night he led all scorers with 24 points in Iowa’s 133-121 win.
Thursday, another good showing from Muhammad, as he put up 22 points and 11 rebounds in Iowa’s 143-132 victory.
Amazing how good Shabazz can look against subpar competition. Still, these games have to serve as a confidence boost for a man that played just 42 minutes in two months in the NBA.
RICKY RUBIO: Same old for Ricky, flashing passing and bad shooting.
He’s 8-27 from the field in the Wolves last three games, and one of the Wolves alleged leaders could only stand idly by while Minnesota blew a six point lead with 95 seconds to go Wednesday.
Some local pundits are getting tired of Ricky’s offensive issues, and have even called hid drafting a “mistake.”
SUMMARY: Suddenly Shabazz is performing well, Burke continues his revenge tour on the eight teams (and Minnesota) that passed on him, and Ricky’s shenanigans are growing old in the metro.
