Not long after getting back into the team, Trevor Plouffe is back on the DL.
The third baseman has a fracture of his left rib, and his move onto the 15-day DL has prompted the Twins to recall Kennys Vargas from Triple-A, team spokesman Dustin Morse said on Twitter.

According to the Associated Press, Plouffe could miss more than a month.
It comes after he was hit by a pitch against the White Sox on Wednesday and, despite returning to hit 3 for 4 with a home run against Texas Friday, the injury flared up again over the weekend.
“I wish I could keep hitting them with a broken rib,” Plouffe told the Pioneer Press. “Unfortunately it’s getting worse and worse.”
Plouffe had only recently returned from the DL after he had a strained muscle on his right side.
The Twins host Oakland on Monday, their last homestand before the All-Star Break.
