After months of hype and excitement, it was finally time to see the Timberwolves on the floor against someone other than themselves.
But Oklahoma City didn’t have much trouble with the Wolves. They left Target Center Wednesday night with a 122-99 victory in Minnesota’s exhibition opener.
Despite the team’s loss, there were certainly a few bright spots for Minnesota – most notably the early play of top draft pick Karl-Anthony Towns.

Towns put together a solid line, finishing with 18 points, five rebounds and two blocks.
Gorgui Dieng also had a solid night for the Wolves, he finished with 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting. Dieng was a perfect 6-of-6 from the stripe and Nemanja Bjelica chipped in 11.
But it wasn’t enough to keep pace with the Thunder’s firepower. The big three performed as you’d expect in limited minutes. Russell Westbrook scored 14 points and had 13 assists. Kevin Durant scored 15 points on an efficient 5-of-8 from the floor, and Serge Ibaka led the Thunder with 18.
The Wolves will head for Canada for a few exhibition games. They will meet up with the Bulls in Winnipeg on Saturday night.
