It’s been 11 years since the Minnesota Timberwolves last participated in the playoffs.
More than a decade of dreadful results in Minnesota isn’t stopping rookie Karl-Anthony Towns from dreaming of not only making the playoffs, but also winning a championship.
The man he’ll lean on to teach him “how to be a champion” is future hall of fame power forward Kevin Garnett. That’s what Towns told CBS Sports Radio’s Boomer & Carton during an in-studio interview Tuesday.
“The biggest thing that I want to really take away from Kevin Garnett, is learn how to be a champion,” Towns said. “He has a ring. I want to get a ring also, in my career. Possibly multiple. I want to do that and I want to actually bring that to Minnesota first.”
Garnett won a championship in his first year with the Celtics in 2007-08. Minnesota traded him to Boston after the 2006-07 season.

Garnett, according to Pro Basketball Talk, specifically traveled to Las Vegas earlier this month to spend time with Towns during the NBA Summer League.
Garnett is signed on with the Wolves for another two seasons, and his future could reside in Minnesota’s front office.
