D’Angelo Russell’s game-winning three at the buzzer overshadowed a dominating performance by Karl-Anthony Towns and Andrew Wiggins Sunday night in Los Angeles.
The Timberwolves duo joined a small group of teammates to each score 40 points in the same game, and the first since Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook did so for the Oklahoma City Thunder in 2105.
Wiggins led the Wolves with 41 points while Towns was an all-around monster, scoring 40 points on 17-of-22 shooting to go along with 21 rebounds and 4 assists.
Towns also became the first player in franchise history with a 40/20 game, according to team’s PR.

The Wolves wrap up the season this week with their final home game Tuesday against the Thunder and Wednesday at Houston. Tuesday’s game will feature the unveiling of the Wolves’ new logo.
