Twins hitters have a tough assignment tonight.
They have to try to figure out how to get a few runs off of Chicago White Sox ace left-hander Chris Sale.
He’s among the AL leaders in ERA this year at 2.43, and is looking to stretch his win streak over the Twins to four consecutive games.
In three starts last year against Minnesota, Sale was 3-0, allowing just two runs and 11 hits over 20 innings, according to the Associated Press.
Sale also owns hitters like Josh Willingham (1 for 12, with seven strikeouts against Sale), Justin Morneau (2 for 9) and Ryan Doumit (1 for 6).
Sale is also probably pretty hungry for a win. He’s now 5-5, and has actually lost his last three starts. But that has more to do with awful run support from the White Sox (2.74 runs per game, worst in the AL) than anything else.
Twins manager Ron Gardenhire sums it up well: “He’s pretty doggone good.”
The Twins counter with Kevin Correia (5-4, 3.97 ERA).
In his only appearance against Chicago last month, Correia gave up four runs and nine hits over seven innings in a 4-2 defeat.
