The highest graded defensive tackle in the 2024 draft was in Minnesota Monday for a ‘Top 30’ visit.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport initially reported that Texas’ Byron Murphy II was set to visit the Vikings facilities Monday, which Murphy himself later confirmed by posting a picture of himself presumably at MSP Airport with a location label of Minneapolis.
He is the No. 1 ranked interior defensive lineman on Mel Kiper’s big board as well as on Mock Draft Database’s Consensus Big Board.
The defensive tackle posted more pictures and videos from the Vikings’ practice facilities including a video from team’s training room and practice field.
The 6-foot-1, 279-pound defensive tackle had 8 sacks for the Longhorns in 2023 while finishing the season with PFF’s highest pass rushing grade among interior defensive lineman.
Minnesota have a noted hole at defensive tackle. At No. 11 the Vikings could be well positioned to take Murphy. With two first-round picks there has been rampant speculation the team could package them to move up in order to take a quarterback.
