Twins fans will have to wait a day longer to see their team in action at Target Field.
Thursday’s Home Opener against the defending World Series champion Houston Astros has been rescheduled to Friday due to the cold and windy weather conditions that are forecast for Thursday.
The game was originally planned for 3:10 p.m. Thursday but will now be played at 3:10 p.m. Friday, when temperatures will be 10-15 degrees warmer along with calmer winds and sunnier skies. Here’s the official word from the Twins:
“The Minnesota Twins have announced that their 2023 Home Opener game, scheduled for Thursday, April 6 at 3:10 p.m. against the Houston Astros at Target Field, has been postponed to Friday, April 7 due to the upcoming weather forecast, which calls for snow and cold temperatures Wednesday night into Thursday morning, followed by sunshine and 50 degrees on Friday.
“The game, and all of the Twins’ Home Opener festivities, will now occur on Friday’s previously-scheduled off-day, following the same timeline: Breakfast on the Plaza from 6:00 to 9:00 a.m., gates opening at 1:00 p.m. and first pitch between the Twins and Astros at 3:10 p.m. CT.”

Minnesota is off to a great start. At 4-0, they’re one of only two remaining undefeated teams in the majors, the other being the Tampa Bay Rays. What’s more is that the Twins have been dynamite on the mound, having allowed just five runs through four games.
Houston is 2-3 after splitting a four-game series with the Chicago White Sox and losing the opener of a three-game series against the Detroit Tigers.
Sonny Gray and Jose Urquidy are set to take the mound for the Twins and Astros in Friday’s game. Gray pitched five scoreless innings in his first start of the season, a 2-0 Twins win over the Royals on Saturday.
Urquidy pitched four innings and allowed three runs on seven hits in a no decision against the White Sox on Saturday.
