The Twins winning streak was snapped at three after they were beaten by the Cleveland Indians 4-2, Tuesday night.
Indians’ starter Josh Tomlin was a tough one for the Twins to figure out. He kept the Twins scoreless and held them to just two hits in his first six innings of work. The Twins finally got to Tomlin in the seventh as Chris Colabello slugged his fourth home run of the season. It was a solo homer for Minnesota, he put the team on the scoreboard.
Tomlin exited the game after 6 2/3 innings of work. He held the Twins to one run on four hits.
The Indians bullpen did the rest of the job, Bryan Shaw closed it out to pick up the save.
It wasn’t the start Sam Deduno was hoping for. He gave up two runs in each of the first two innings and the Twins quickly fell behind 4-0, Tuesday night. It was Deduno’s first start since August of last season. He finished five innings.
Nick Swisher did much of the damage for Cleveland. He finished 2 for 4 with a double an RBI and a run scored. Michael Brantley and Yan Gomes also drove in runs for Cleveland.
The Twins and Cleveland close out the series with an afternoon game on Wednesday. First pitch is at 12:05.
Logan Darnell made his Major League debut for the Twins in the sixth inning. He recorded his first out on his first major league pitch. He recorded a 1-2-3 inning in his first one for the Twins.
Darnell pitched well for Minnesota. He didn’t allow a run or a hit in three innings of work.
