What can’t Golden Gophers goaltender Adam Wilcox do?
The sophomore from South St. Paul is one of 10 finalists for the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, he’s the Big Ten Player of the Year and the Big Ten Goaltender of the Year. In short, this guy can do it all.
He’s been the backstop for the top-ranked Gophers who play Robert Morris on Saturday at Xcel Energy Center as the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA tournament. If they win, they’ll advance to play St. Cloud State or Notre Dame in the West Regional final.
Wilcox can even solve a Rubik’s Cube.
GopherSports.com interviewed Wilcox after he solved the Rubik’s Cube in one-minute and 17 seconds. Apparently he’s been solving the Cube since he was a freshman in high school. 1:17 is impressive, but it’s 20 seconds slower than his personal best of 57 seconds, which he says he set during biology class as a tenth grader.
RecordHolders.org says the world record for solving a Rubik’s Cube is held by Mats Valk of Netherlands, who solved it in 5.55 seconds.
