The Minnesota Timberwolves fell to their seventh loss in nine games Sunday when Luke Ridnour’s last-second shot clanged off the rim, leaving the Golden State Warriors with a 100-99 victory.
The Timberwolves held a six point lead with six minutes to play but suffered some critical lapses in the game’s waning minutes, including a failure to corral the rebound of a missed Golden State free throw with 40 seconds remaining.
Fox Sports North says today’s game marked the tenth time this season that the Wolves held a lead at the start of the fourth quarter but wound up losing.
Derrick Wiliams led Minnesota with 23 points and 12 rebounds. Nikola Pekovic scored 21. And Ricky Rubio was very active. He finished with 16 points, 11 assists, 8 rebounds, 6 steals, and 6 turnovers.
A three-game western road trip starts Tuesday night in Phoenix against the Suns.
