The Minnesota Timberwolves dominated a Denver Nuggets squad resting four starters, including back-to-back MVP Nikola Jokic, on Sunday night in Minneapolis.
While Denver was without four starters, the Timberwolves got backup point guard Jordan McLaughlin back for the first time in 30 games and as soon as he checked in the Wolves went on an 11-2 run to close the first quarter with a 32-21 lead and they never looked back.
D’Angelo Russell scored 14 of his 18 points in the first quarter, going 3-of-5 from deep. Anthony Edwards led the Wolves with 20 points while Jaylen Nowell added 16 points off the bench. Rudy Gobert also finished with 16 points and eight rebounds.
Taurean Prince’s corner three with 4:16 left in the game opened a 31-point lead over the Western Conference leaders and Minnesota cruised to a 128-98 victory – the 29th of the season for the Timberwolves.
