Whoever created the phrase “There’s no place like home” didn’t relay the message to the Minnesota Timberwolves. Over their past five games at the Target Center, the Wolves haven’t been able to defend their home floor and the latest installment of their home woes came in a 115-107 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Sunday evening.
In their latest home defeat, the Timberwolves were able to get a balanced effort from their starting lineup. Four of the five Minnesota starters scored in double figures on Sunday and they were led by a strong effort from Karl-Anthony Towns, who led the Wolves with 21 points to go with 12 rebounds.
Regardless of the balanced attack, the Timberwolves went into the locker room down by a score of 48-47 thanks to a four-point flurry before the buzzer that ended with a steal and bank shot by Rodney Covington in the closing seconds of the half.

The third quarter played a big role for both teams coming out of the locker room as the Grizzlies took control of the game by outscoring Minnesota 38-30. Specifically, the Timberwolves had no answer for Memphis guard Dillon Brooks, who scored a game-high 26-points including four three-pointers.
Brooks was part of a Memphis attack that saw seven players score in double figures including Apple Valley native and former Timberwolves guard Tyus Jones, who scored 12 points to go with seven assists.
The loss dropped the Timberwolves to 10-9 on the year and just 3-7 at Target Center. Mercifully, the Wolves will hit the road for a four-game road trip out west as they begin that stretch with a game in Dallas on Wednesday night.
