The Minnesota Timberwolves’ cold shooting helped snatch a defeat from the jaws of victory on Friday night as they fell to the Toronto Raptors 86-81.
Things got off to a rough start at Target Center as the Timberwolves started ice cold from the floor. With Minnesota unable to buy a bucket, the Raptors took advantage, building a 45-35 lead into halftime.
The Timberwolves made their move in the third quarter thanks to the play of Jake Layman. With eight points on the night, Layman helped spark a 13-0 run that helped the Wolves cut the lead down to three points.

As the Raptors were held without a point for the final 8:23 of the quarter, Anthony Edwards delivered a poster quality dunk to add an exclamation point to a frame where the Wolves outscored the Raptors 29-13.

While Karl-Anthony Towns helped lead the way with 19 points and 13 rebounds, the Timberwolves went on a scoring drought of their own. Minnesota was held scoreless over the final 3:40 and Terence Davis hit a go-ahead 3-pointer with 30.8 seconds remaining as the Raptors avenged Sunday’s loss to the Timberwolves.
Minnesota is now 7-22 on the season and will travel to face the New York Knicks on Sunday night.
