The Minnesota Timberwolves snapped their three-game losing streak with a 124-122 victory over the Boston Celtics at Target Center Monday night.
1. Running this Towns
Karl-Anthony Towns had one of the best nights of his young NBA career. The Wolves rookie finished with 28 points and 13 rebounds for another double-double.
Towns was red hot in the first half – scoring 20 of those points.
2. Nervous moments at the end
Minnesota had a little trouble closing the game out. Andrew Wiggins, Ricky Rubio and Zach LaVine combined to go 2-of-6 from the free-throw line in the final minute, giving the Celtics one last chance.
But Marcus Smart’s three-pointer just before the buzzer was short and the Wolves held on for the victory.
3. Tyus Jones productive in new role
Apple Valley native and Timberwolves rookie Tyus Jones had a nice night. He scored nine points while hitting on 4-of-7 shooting, including a nice hustle play to go with it.

The play sparked a 16-4 run in the second quarter for the Wolves.
