The Minnesota Timberwolves are suddenly on a bit of a hot streak. They won their third straight game Sunday evening, downing the Detroit Pistons 112-101 on the road in Pontiac, Michigan.
Nikola Pekovic scored 29 points and Kevin Martin added 24 to lead the Wolves, according to the Associated Press.
Guard Ricky Rubio, who is just back from a severe ankle injury, sat out the game.
But others stepped up in his place – Andrew Wiggins scored 18 points while Thad Young had 16. Mo Williams had 11 points and nine assists, according to the Star Tribune.
The Wolves led throughout the game, and were ahead by 19 points at one point in the third quarter. But the Pistons battled back with a 24-9 run to pull within four points in the fourth quarter at 83-79, according to the AP.
The momentum then shifted back to the Wolves, as a 3-pointer by Wiggins started them on an 18-6 run that sealed the win.
Detroit was led by D.J. Augustin’s 20 points.
The Timberwolves have won 10 straight over the Pistons.
