If you haven’t already bought tickets for this weekend’s Twins-Royals games at Target Field, you’re about out of luck.
The Twins have announced that the Saturday and Sunday games are sold out (although you can find some standing room only tickets on StubHub) and only limited tickets remain for Friday night’s game against Kansas City.
Not only is the Twins’ success – their .672 winning percentage is tied with the Astros and Dodgers for the best in the MLB – a major driver to selling tickets, but so are this weekend’s festivities at Target Field.
- Friday: Prince Night
- Saturday: Joe Mauer Day
- Sunday: Father’s Day
Here’s what’s happening each day of the series.
Friday: Prince Night
The first 10,000 fans get a purple Prince Twins jersey, and there will be opportunities to take photos with ex-Twins Jim Thome, Joe Nathan, Nick Punto and J.J. Hardy before the game from 5:20-6 p.m. After the game, the Twins will put on their first Friday night fireworks display.
Saturday: Joe Mauer Day
The first 40,000 fans – that’s everyone in attendance – will get a commemorative No. 7 baseball cap. The Twins will then retire Mauer’s No. 7 during a pregame ceremony. From 4:20-5 p.m., fans will be able to take photos with ex-twins Michael Cuddyer, Eddie Guardado, Torii Hunter and Brad Radke.
Sunday: Father’s Day
Sunday is all about Father’s Day, but every Sunday at Target Field is Kids Day. Kids meals are half price ($4) and youth ages 12 and under can get an autograph from a player before the game. After the game, kids are allowed to get on the field and run the bases.
The Twins recently announced security policy changes that should help speed up the lines at the gates to get inside Target Field. The new policies go into effect Tuesday night when the Twins begin a 10-game home stand with the first of three games against the Seattle Mariners.
