Fran Tarkenton is one of the greatest quarterbacks in NFL history and Tiger Woods is one of the greatest golfers of all-time. Together, they form a powerful duo.
We’re not sure they’ve met recently, but the first time they were together was when Woods was a 5-year-old prodigy and Tarkenton was a retired player turned television show host.
Tarkenton hosted two episodes of “That’s Incredible” on the Family Channel in 1980. According to IMDB, the show “took a look at the more unusual sides of nature, medicine and human endeavor.” The show is credited for popularizing the phrase, “don’t try this at home.”
One episode Tarkenton hosted included the youngster Woods propped up on his lap. Woods was already becoming well-known at his young age. He shot close to par on 18-hole golf courses, and predicted he would beat Jack Nicklaus and Arnold Palmer by the time he was 20.
Tarkenton recently tweeted his respect for new Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer, who was hired on Wednesday.
Hearing that @Vikings will hire Mike Zimmer as next coach. Would be a great move- head coaching job long overdue for him. #SKOL #NFL
