Teemu Pulkkinen is the newest member of the Minnesota Wild.
On Tuesday the Wild announced they have claimed the 24-year-old Pulkkinen off waivers from the Detroit Red Wings.
Pulkkinen has torn up the AHL for the past two seasons, scoring 65 goals over that span. He dressed in 39 games last season with the Red Wings and scored 6 goals for Detroit, but hasn’t yet to translated his success from the minor leagues to the NHL.
He’s coming off offseason should surgery but is know for having a blistering shot.
And it appears he will be on the active roster when the Wild open the season on Thursday in St. Louis.
With Pulkkinen being claimed, the Wild have assigned Christoph Bertschy to Iowa which puts the Wild’s roster at 23 which is the league maximum.
