Twenty-five years later and the Dallas Stars are still finding ways to troll Minnesota hockey fans.
Earlier this month, the Stars announced they’d be hosting a “retro night” on Feb. 3, where they will wear warmup jerseys from their inaugural season.
And who do they play on retro night? None other than the Minnesota Wild for the ultimate troll job.
Dallas used the primary logo the North Stars had, with a slight color adjustment. Eventually, they wanted to be themselves, so they completely overhauled their sweaters prior to the 2013-14 season.
They will also pay homage to former players: Neal Broten, Dave Gagner, Andy Moog and Craig Ludwig.
Which is kind of funny, because Broten and Gagner didn’t spend much time in Dallas but were prominent players for the North Stars, but again, you’re welcome.
Earlier this year, a Minnesota man started a petition to bring the North Stars’ history, retired numbers and logo back to Minnesota.
Last season, the Stars missed out on the playoffs, one year after winning the Central Division.
However Dallas is poised to bounce back. They had an aggressive offseason, acquiring goalie Ben Bishop, forward Alexander Radulov and former Wild center Matin Hanzal.
