It’s been four days and not a single howl has come from Kevin Garnett since being traded from Brooklyn back to the Timberwolves.
All of that will change Tuesday at 3 p.m. when the Wolves officially reintroduce Garnett at a press conference.
Garnett will practice with the Wolves for the first time just before the media gathering. He’ll suit up and play Wednesday when the Wolves host the Washington Wizards.
According to a release from NBA.com, the press conference will be held in the Target Center skyway and be available for stream at Timberwolves.com.
Garnett was traded back to Minnesota, the team he spent his first 12 NBA seasons with, just before the league’s trade deadline struck last Thursday. Minnesota sent Thaddeus Young and the one-year remaining on his contract (almost $10 million, player option) to the Nets.
KG created ticket firestorm
TMZ Sports notes that there was so much excitement following the trade that Wolves fans flocked to ticket windows to see Garnett back in town. The problem was that fans purchased tickets to Minnesota’s home game against Phoenix last Friday – and KG didn’t play.
“But the team announced Garnett won’t hit the hardwood ’til Wednesday … and box office sources tell us, ‘There were a lot of people who bought tickets for tonight’s game because they thought it’d be KG’s first game back. Now they’re all calling, trying to exchange the tickets for Wednesday’s game.'”
Jerry Zgoda notes that Garnett needed a long weekend to get things settled after the trade.
Cell phones in the toilet
Garnett has been known as one of the fiercest competitors in NBA history. Wolves rookie Zach LaVine said he’s already a bit worried that Garnett will yell at him because he’s using KG’s old locker. LaVine said he offered his locker to Garnett, but KG declined.

Another urban legend about Garnett is that he will throw a player’s cell phone in the toilet if he sees them using it in the locker room on game day, the Pioneer Press says.
