Thaddeus Young has returned to the Timberwolves after missing about a week dealing with the death of his mother.
Young’s mother Lula Hall passed away after a battle with cancer on Nov. 13. Her funeral was last Friday in Memphis.
On Monday, Young said he was glad to be back with his teammates.
“It’s still a situation where you still think about what happened with my mom,” Young told the Star Tribune. “But my teammates and my coaches and the whole organization have been behind me every step of the way. I thank them for their thoughts and their prayers, each and every fan that’s reached out to me also, all the players around the league. It’s definitely a tragic thing, but you try and get back in the swing of things and just keep playing, making her proud.”
The Timberwolves were in the middle of their six-game road trip when Hall took a turn for the worse in her battle with cancer. Young made it home before his mother died.
“The last 10, 15 minutes of my mom’s life I was there holding her hand,” Young said to reporters. “I felt her last breaths as she passed away. I was just happy I was able to get home and see her before she passed.”
Young’s absence came at an especially tough time for the Wolves as they have been decimated by injuries in the last few weeks.
FOX Sports Net reports Ricky Rubio (severe left-ankle sprain), Nikola Pekovic (sprained right wrist), Ronny Turiaf (sore right hip) and now Kevin Martin (fractured right wrist) are all out of the lineup, because of injuries.
Martin is the most recent injury, he fractured his right wrist during his 37 point performance against the New York Knicks last week.

Rotoworld says Young is on track to return when the Wolves host Milwaukee on Wednesday.
