There’s more good news for Vikings quarterback Teddy Bridgewater. Head coach Mike Zimmer told reporters Monday that Bridgewater cleared his first test in the NFL concussion protocol.
Bridgewater took a hit to the head from St. Louis cornerback Lamarcus Joyner while sliding at the end of a run in the fourth quarter of Sunday’s 21-18 victory over the Rams.
The hit, which Vikings players and coaches have clearly said they felt was dirty, knocked Bridgewater from the game. But afterwards, Bridgewater said he was feeling better. That trend appears to be continuing Monday.

“I think he will be ready to go,” Zimmer said.
Zimmer provided a little depth to his post game criticism of the hit on Bridgewater and of St. Louis defensive coordinator Gregg Williams.
“There was more than one hit I was upset about,” Zimmer said Monday.

The NFL will not suspend Joyner for the hit on Bridgewater, but he could still face a fine.

Shaun Hill came into the game and helped lead the Vikings into field goal range in overtime.
Peter King of the Monday Morning Quarterback notes that the 6-2 Vikings are going to have to win some tough games to hang with the Green Bay Packers in the NFC North.
Zimmer said in order for Bridgewater to practice Wednesday, when the team starts its preparations for Oakland, Bridgewater would have to be able to work out without a headache.
Other Vikings injury notes
Zimmer wouldn’t say what the results were of an X-ray on Anthony Barr’s left arm, but he did say he expected Barr to be fine. Barr was seen in a cast following Sunday’s game.

Cornerback Terrence Newman was also in the NFL’s concussion protocol, and like Bridgewater, Zimmer said he also passed his first test Monday.
