You’ve already seen the article we posted last week in which one ESPN writer picked Minnesota as a dark horse to reach the College Football Playoff, but most pundits think the Gophers have little chance to simply knocked off No. 2-ranked TCU in the season opener Thursday night.
In Las Vegas, most sports books are favoring TCU by as many as 16 points, according to Vegas Insider.
But when push comes to shove, Gophers head coach Jerry Kill believes his team can give the Horned Frogs a ballgame, largely due to the fact that they’re playing at TCF Bank Stadium.
“They’re coming on the road and playing at our house,” Kill said Saturday, per FOX Sports North. “I guarantee you when both teams come out of that tunnel, there will be a lot of energy from both sides of the ball.”
Speaking of energy, that’s exactly what TCU’s Trevone Boykin brings to the table. The Heisman Trophy candidate has lit up opposing defenses each of his three college seasons.
