Wild defenseman Ryan Suter had an offensive explosion last week, netting four goals of the five he has on the season while posting a plus-six, which helped him earn the NHL’s third star of the week Monday.
During the week, Suter helped Minnesota end a franchise-worst six-game losing streak, as the squad got back on track by beating Buffalo and Washington.
Suter’s offensive contributions come at a crucial time, as head coach Mike Yeo’s future appeared to be in jeopardy before the back-to-back wins, while the Wild also lost Zach Parise and Mikko Koivu to injuries, their first- and fourth-leading scorers.
Carolina winger Jeff Skinner was named the league’s top star of the week, while St. Louis goalie Brian Elliott took the runner-up honor.
