There’s a reason why “you don’t run on Rosie” is a saying, and Eddie Rosario proved it once again on Thursday night.
With the Twins leading 2-1 in the bottom of the 9th and with 2 outs, the Red Sox had Rafael Devers on 1st when JD Martinez came to the plate to face Taylor Rogers.
Martinez smashed the ball to left, bouncing it high off Fenway Park’s famous “Monster,” with Rosario waiting to scoop it up.
Devers was sent around 3rd to get the tying run, but with unerring accuracy Rosario sent a missile from left field into the waiting glove of Jason Castro, who tagged Devers out at home with room to spare.

It was a champagne moment and a vital series-clinching win for the Twins, who have started off a tough stretch of games in the best possible way.
The win is made even better by the fact Cleveland lost earlier on Thursday, meaning the Twins enter the home series against the Indians 6.5 games ahead.
The Red Sox had taken a 4th inning lead thanks to a homer from the red hot Mookie Betts off of Martin Perez.
It was the only run Perez gave up as he completed six innings giving up only two hits, with one strikeout.
The Twins struck back in the 5th, before Willians Astudillo came to the plate with bases loaded and 2-out in the 7th, hitting a single that scored Miguel Sano.

There was also some spectacular fielding that’s worth watching from Jake Cave.
