The Minnesota Wild dropped another home game to an Eastern Conference opponent Tuesday night. Minnesota fell to Buffalo 3-2 at the Xcel Energy Center.
1. Ugly first period leaves Wild scrambling
Buffalo took control of the game early, with three first period goals. Jamie McGinn put the Sabres on the scoreboard with his ninth goal of the season.
Rasmus Ristolainen and Brian Gionta put Buffalo up by two more with goals just 20 seconds apart near the end of the period.

2. Wild struggling at home
The loss means Minnesota is continuing to struggle at home, something we’re not used to seeing at Xcel Energy Center.

3. Power play struggles continue
The Wild continue to struggle on the power play. Again, Minnesota was just able to draw a single power play, and the Wild again failed to score on it.
