Byron Buxton’s miserable start to the 2018 season just keeps getting worse as the Twins have placed him on the disabled list for the second time.
Buxton, still dealing with pain in the toe he fractured earlier this season, has been placed back on the 10-day DL.
Buxton back to the DL. He’s going to have his broken toe re-examined

Buxton missed 21 games earlier this season with migraine headaches and the fractured toe, which he suffered during a rehab stint at Triple-A Rochester when he was preparing to return from the headaches.
But the Twins elected to bypass a rehab stint in his return from the toe injury, getting him back in the lineup May 10 against the Angels.
Twins activated Byron Buxton without a rehab assignment after a month on the disabled list and had him play through a fractured toe. Buxton hit .128 in 16 games and was in obvious pain every time he ran. Now he goes back on the disabled list. What a total decision-making failure.

Manager Paul Molitor also gave a concerning update on All-Star right-hander Ervin Santana, saying he still can’t comfortably grip the baseball and he’ll have his surgically repaired middle finger re-examined.
More bad injury news for the #MNTwins. Ervin Santana was pulled off his rehab assignment because he’s still having issues with his finger. So he’s going back to see a specialist.

Santana has not played this season since undergoing surgery on his finger in February.
