Good news for the Vikings as wide receiver Stefon Diggs returned to the practice field Friday after being held out Wednesday and Thursday with a knee injury.
The extent of his knee injury hasn’t been made clear, but on Thursday Diggs told Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press that he plans to play Sunday when the Vikings and Patriots kickoff at Gillette Stadium at 3:25 p.m.
Diggs said something similar during the week before Minnesota’s Week 9 game against Detroit and he wound up missing that game with bruised ribs.
Diggs is second on the Vikings with 79 receptions for 760 yards and six touchdowns, trailing only Adam Thielen’s 93 catches for 1,138 yards and eight touchdowns.
With seven catches, Thielen will become the first Vikings players with 100 receptions in a season since Randy Moss in 2003.
Meanwhile, all-pro cornerback Xavier Rhodes also returned to practice on Friday after missing sessions Tuesday and Wednesday because of a hamstring injury he suffered in last week’s win over the Packers.
Both Diggs and Rhodes are officially listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.
