The Minnesota Wild’s seven game win streak came to an end in Friday night’s 5-3 loss at Dallas.
The Stars struck twice in the first period and carried a 2-0 lead until Devin Setoguchi made it a one goal game with 1:12 left in the first.
Jared Spurgeon tied the game for the Wild with a wrist shot late in the second period, but Dallas knocked the wind out of the Wild with two quick goals to start the third period.
Minnesota struggled on special teams. The Wild’s penalty kill was ranked fourth in the NHL entering the game, but Dallas scored three power play goals.
Matt Hackett took the loss in goal. He started in place of Niklas Backstrom, who stayed in Minnesota to get some rest before Saturday’s home game against the Los Angeles Kings.
With the game out-of-hand in the third period, the gloves started to drop and fights were happening all over the ice. For the Wild, Zenon Konopka and Mike Rupp were given game misconducts after a scrum that had ten players on the ice involved.
