Jason Zucker’s 30th goal of the season helped give the Wild a 4-1 win – head coach Bruce Boudreau’s 500th career win – over the NHL-leading Nashville Predators Saturday night in St. Paul.
With the goal, Zucker and Eric Staal (39 goals) are the first Wild teammates to reach 30+ goals in the same season in a decade.
In fact, Marian Gaborik and Brian Rolston are the only other duo in Wild history to do it.
- 2007-08: Gaborik (42), Rolston (31)
- 2006-07: Rolston (31), Gaborik (30)
- 2005-06: Gaborik (38), Rolston (34)
Zach Parise (30 goals) and Jason Pominville (29 goals) came close in 2013-14.
With 8 games to go Staal and Zucker need to combine for just 5 more goals in order to be the most prolific scoring duo in Wild history.
Minnesota is back on the ice Sunday at 6:30 p.m. against the Boston Bruins.
