Wild center Eric Staal had to leave the game against the Edmonton Oilers on Friday night because of a high stick that he took right to the face.
Staal returned before the end of regulation but Edmonton tied it up with 4 minutes left, sending the game to overtime.
After neither team scored in OT, things were settled in a shootout that went to six rounds.
Sure enough, it was Staal who netted the game-winner in the final round to give Minnesota the 3-2 win.
The Wild have now won three straight and are 5-1-3 in their last 9 games.
