Cole De Vries ended a solid spring today by pitching three hitless innings in the Twins’ 8-3 win over the Red Sox in Fort Myers.
That’s the good news.
The potentially bad news: He left his start early due to tightness in his right forearm, according to MLB.com.
De Vries, who is battling for a starting job, ends with an ERA of 0.53 over 17 innings.
Minnesota breaks camp tomorrow after another game with Boston.
Earlier, Minnesota sent pitchers Rich Harden and Rafael Perez to the minor leagues and put right-hander Tim Wood on the disabled list, according to the Pioneer Press.
As a result, that trims the roster from 28 to a final 25 for Opening Day, barring any last minute changes.
Also today: Minnesota placed Alex Burnett on waivers to make room for outfielder Wilkin Ramirez on the 40-man roster. He was quickly snapped up by the Toronto Blue Jays. Burnett, 25, posted a 7.56 ERA with the Twins this spring before being sent to the minors.
