Kevin Correia’s rough spring training with the Twins continued Monday in a 6-2 loss to the Marlins.
Rain shortened the game to five innings, four of which were pitched by Correia. The right-hander allowed five runs on five hits and two walks.
Both runs for the Twins crossed home plate on Brian Dozier’s first home run of the spring.
Minnesota’s projected starting rotation isn’t doing so hot in sunny Florida. Take a look at the earn run averages for the potential regular season starters.
Vance Worley: 6.00
Kevin Correia: 6.46
Mike Pelfrey: 7.45
Liam Hendriks: 6.00
Cole De Vries: 0.90
Samuel Deduno: 0.00
The starting rotation isn’t set in stone just yet, but Scott Diamond will likely miss a couple of weeks of the regular season and Kyle Gibson has already been sent to AAA Rochester.
That means manager Ron Gardenhire has the group listed above to work with. Which four of five will he choose? De Vries and Deduno are the only starters that have pitched well.
