Mike Pelfrey’s fourth start of spring training didn’t go very well on Thursday. He gave up five runs in two innings and the Twins lost to the Red Sox, 7-3.
Pelfrey’s spring ERA is up to 7.45, but manager Ron Gardenhire says he isn’t worried because the right-hander is still in the early stages of his comeback from Tommy John surgery.
“He hasn’t been out there in 10 months. So he just has to find it. But I have no concerns. None.”
Anthony Swarzak and Scott Diamond are nearing returns from injury. Swarzak felt good after throwing a bullpen session and left-hander Scott Diamond through live batting practice on Thursday. Diamond might only miss a week or two of the regular season.
