Vegas oddsmakers have set over/under win totals for NFL teams in 2023 and the Minnesota Vikings are in a familiar place: the middle.
According to DraftKings Sportsbook, the Vikings’ win over/under has been set at 8.5 wins. That’s tied other teams with lots of questions and is second in the NFC North behind the Detroit Lions (9.5), just ahead of the Packers (7.5) and Bears (7.5).
Over/under win totals:
- Kansas City Chiefs: 11.5
- Cincinnati Bengals: 11.5
- San Francisco 49ers: 11.5
- Philadelphia Eagles: 10.5
- Jacksonville Jaguars: 10.5
- Buffalo Bills: 10.5
- New York Jets: 9.5
- New Orleans Saints: 9.5
- Detroit Lions: 9.5
- Miami Dolphins: 9.5
- Los Angeles Chargers: 9.5
- Cleveland Browns: 9.5
- Dallas Cowboys: 9.5
- New York Giants: 8.5
- Pittsburgh Steelers: 8.5
- Baltimore Ravens: 8.5
- Denver Broncos: 8.5
- Seattle Seahawks: 8.5
- Minnesota Vikings: 8.5
- Los Angeles Rams: 7.5
- New England Patriots: 7.5
- Las Vegas Raiders: 7.5
- Green Bay Packers: 7.5
- Atlanta Falcons: 7.5
- Carolina Panthers: 7.5
- Chicago Bears: 7.5
- Washington Commanders: 7.5
- Tennessee Titans: 7.5
- Indianapolis Colts: 6.5
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers: 6.5
- Houston Texans: 5.5
- Arizona Cardinals: 5.5
Minnesota won 13 games in 2022 but it required a bit of magic, including going 11-0 in games decided by 8 points or fewer and winning eight games despite trailing at the start of the fourth quarter.
If 8.5 feels low, consider that repeating that magic again will be difficult, especially since the Vikings, because they won the NFC North, have what appears to be a very difficult list of opponents in 2023.
2023 home opponents:
- San Francisco 49ers (13-4) – NFC West champs
- Kansas City Chiefs (14-3) – AFC West champs
- Los Angeles Chargers (10-7)
- New Orleans Saints (7-10)
- Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-9) – NFC South champs
- Green Bay Packers (8-9)
- Chicago Bears (3-14)
- Detroit Lions (9-8)
The 49ers and Chiefs are extremely good, the Chargers look like they’re improving, the Saints added Derek Carr and the Bears and Lions are surely going to be solid. Green Bay is a big question with Jordan Love taking over for Aaron Rodgers, and the Bucs are anyone’s guess.
2023 road opponents:
- Philadelphia Eagles (14-3) – NFC East champs
- Cincinnati Bengals (12-4) – AFC North champs
- Atlanta Falcons (7-10)
- Carolina Panthers (7-10)
- Denver Broncos (5-12)
- Las Vegas Raiders (6-11)
- Green Bay Packers (8-9)
- Chicago Bears (3-14)
- Detroit Lions (9-8)
The Eagles and Bengals are daunting. The Panthers have Adam Thielen, Miles Sanders, D.J. Chark and the No. 1 pick in the draft. Denver may be poised for a rapid turnaround with Sean Payton coaching Russell Wilson, and the Raiders added Jimmy Garoppolo and they own the No. 7 pick in the draft.
