Apparently the empire known as Michael Jordan has had enough of Chicago living, putting his home of 20 years in Highland Park, a north shore suburb, up on the auction block.
The Wall Street Journal says the little known basketball player from North Carolina put the humble domicile on the market in February 2012 for $29 million, but couldn’t unload it at that thrifty price.
The rarely seen, nearly forgotten Jordan tells the WSJ in an email “my kids are grown now and I don’t need a large house in Chicago.”
The recluse spends time between a charming fixer-upper in North Carolina and an efficiency apartment in Jupiter, Fla., says CBS Sports. Apparently has has a little shanty in Utah as well.
Ok, seriously, the Chicago pad covers nearly eight acres, has 56,000 square feet, 19 bathrooms, nine bedrooms, and a basketball court, of course. New York-based Concierge Auctions will hold the live auction on Nov. 22.
