He’s an aging middle linebacker that the Bears cast out of Chicago.
Brian Urlacher, eight-time Pro Bowler and future Hall of Famer, says the Bears’ $2 million a year offer for 2013 was a “slap in the face.”
“Don’t get me wrong,” Urlacher told the Chicago Tribune, “Two million is a lot of money. But I’m not going to put my body through what it goes through during the season for that amount of money.”
That makes Urlacher, 34, a free agent for the first time in 13 seasons.
Are the Vikings interested?
According to ESPN writer Kevin Seifert, grabbing Urlacher would “contradict nearly everything Rick Spielman has said and done in 15 months since he’s been the Vikings’ general manager.
In short, Seifert says adding Urlacher would only be applying a Band-Aid in Spielman’s eyes … but … stranger things (Favre) have happened. Even Urlacher admits jumping to the Vikings (or Packers) wouldn’t be all bad:
