A knee injury limited defensive tackle Sharrif Floyd to one game last season and it appears his injury might be far more serious than anyone imagined.
In an Instagram post late Thursday, Floyd said he just wants a “fighting chance” and he’s “praying my road doesn’t end here.” The key part of his message says:
“I’m down on one knee praying my road doesn’t end here…. there are so many more lives to touch, so much more joy to spread. You’ve believed in me for to long to turn your back on me now. Don’t let me go out this way. All I ask is for a fighting chance…”

CBS Sports says the fact that the Vikings signed former Packers defensive end Datone Jones is a sign that they don’t think Floyd will be healthy for next season.
“He’s trying to get healthy. He’s got this thing with his leg. I don’t know if I should get too specific with it,” head coach Mike Zimmer told KFAN this week. “We’re just waiting for it to get healthy and if that’s the case then I think he can have a good year.”
If Floyd can’t play, at least he’ll still get paid. The Vikings picked up his fifth-year option, meaning he’s guaranteed to make $6.757 million in 2017, according to ESPN.
