The Minnesota Gophers were on fire from long range Thursday night as they dismantled Franklin Pierce 109-57.
The Gophers were 11-of-15 from behind the arc – including Andre Hollins who was a perfect 4-of-4 from the three-point line.
Hollins’ 14 points were topped only by newcomers Carlos Morris and Nate Mason, who scored 16 and 15 points respectively. Joey King also was in double figures with 11 points.
Minnesota used a lot of high percentage shots to finish 58.3 percent from the floor and then knocked down a lot of good looks from the outside.
According to the Pioneer Press, it was Minnesota’s first 100-point game since 2003-04 and the most points the Gophers have scored in a game since a 116-48 defeat of Rider in 1990.
The Gophers were off and running early, building a lead that quickly grew to 24 by halftime at 55-31.
It didn’t get any closer in the second half as the Gophers held the Ravens to just 32.3 percent shooting from the floor. The Gophers defense also forced the Ravens into 24 turnovers on the night.
