The Minnesota Wild let one slip away late and paid for it in overtime falling to the Ottawa Senators 3-2 in overtime.
1. Another overtime loss
Erik Karlsson’s goal at the 4:29 mark of overtime broke the two-all tie and officially sunk the Wild. Minnesota has struggled in overtime all season.

The overtime loss did earn the Wild a point and kept them firmly in the final Western Conference wild card spot.

2. Senators last second goal
The more painful goal for the Wild may have been the one at the end of regulation, forcing the game into overtime. Mika Zibanejad’s 16th goal of the season came with just eight seconds left in regulation.

3. Niederreiter gives Minnesota early lead
Nino Niederreiter scored just over 90 seconds into the game, giving the Wild an early 1-0 lead. It was one of two leads the Wild failed to hold onto Tuesday.
