Sunday morning service at one Seattle-area church has been cancelled in favor of watching football.
EastLake Community Church is still holding a service later in the day, but its putting prayer on hold to root on the Seahawks against the Vikings. The game kicks off at 10 a.m. PT, whereas churches in Minnesota can go on as planned and get out in time for the 12 p.m. CT kickoff.
“It cracks me up every year we do this that it’s news,” said Ryan Meeks, founding pastor of the church, according to the Seattle Times. “We are human beings and we like to watch the Seahawks.”

Two years ago Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson, while crying on national television after beating the Packers in the NFC Championship Game, said, “God is so good, man!“
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers, clearly recalling Wilson’s credit to God, trolled Wilson after the Packers beat Seattle in Week 2 this season, saying, “I think God was a Packers fan tonight.”
We’re pretty sure God is a Vikings fan, but that’s not to the point. Let’s just hope the Vikings don’t need a Hail Mary to beat the Seahawks.
