Dallas Stars 5
Minnesota Wild 4
Millimeters separated the Wild from a game-tying goal and a chance at overtime. Instead, they fell one-goal shy and lost 5-4 to the Dallas Stars, ending their season in Game 6 of the best-of-seven series.
1. Wild ‘go crazy’ in the third period
Trailing 4-0 after two periods the Wild found life and made a game of things. Jared Spurgeon got the scoring started with a power-play goal at the 3:48 mark of the period, and 16 seconds later Jonas Brodin scored on a rush by Erik Haula to make it a 4-2 game. Spurgeon added a second power-play goal just over four minutes later to make it 4-3.

Dallas scored a flukey goal to make it 5-3 before Jason Pominville banged in a rebound with just under 5 minutes to play to make it a 5-4 game.
The Wild used Prince’s “Let’s Go Crazy” after every goal as a tribute to the late, great icon.
2. Millimeters from overtime
The entire puck needs to cross the goal line. This is how close the Wild came to forcing overtime.

3. Wild booed off the ice
Despite the energy the Wild showed in the third period, the first two periods were complete disasters as they were outplayed in every facet of the game. Two early penalties allowed the Stars to score on a power play for the first goal of the game, and Dallas used that momentum to surge to a 3-0 lead after the first period.
Fans booed the Wild off the ice after the first two periods.
Tweet(s) of the Night:
Minnesota scored three straight goals to make a 4-3 game in the third period before Dallas got its fifth goal on a play where Wild goalie Devan Dubnyk lost site of the puck. Grand Rapids native and former Gopher Alex Goligoski was credited with the goal.

Just before Goligoski scored, Jason Zucker fanned on a perfect opportunity to tie the game. It’s painful to watch.
